What Comes to Mind When You Hear Domestic Terror?
You know, its actually ironic. President Bush created the Department of Homeland Security (DHS) because of 9/11 which terrorized innocent civilians for years. He recently just wrote a book, “Out of Many, One: Portraits of America’s Immigrants” where he tells the stories of immigrants and how essential they are to our society. Among the immigrants include Muslim-Americans. I mean it’s all good in hindsight, right? No.
He led a campaign against Muslims using divisive speech and coded language to invoke hatred towards American Muslims. People’s lives were destroyed, they were humiliated, and we are still reaping the effects of that Islamophobia today.
And if we really want to get into the weeds and talk about domestic terror, then lets talk about how the DHS has recognized homegrown white-nationalists as the largest and most violent threat to Americans.
